Our Stories in Evanston / Nuestras Historias en Evanston

Latinos have been a part of Evanston’s community since at least 1885, yet this vibrant history is only now beginning to be collected and documented. This effort is led by Evanston Latinos, a local nonprofit, in conjunction with significant events such as the recent naming and dedication of the Jorge and Luz Maria Prieto Community Center.

Join us for pan y cafecito as we listen to diverse Latino families share their experiences of building lives and community in Evanston over the years.

• There will be an opportunity for you to share your own stories as well.
• Learn more about your neighbors while engaging in meaningful conversation.

This event will be moderated by Evanston Latinos and will be conducted in English. At the moment we are not planning to provide Spanish translation unless audience members need it. If you need translation, please email Krista at kfabian@evanstonhistorycenter.org so that we can accommodate you.

Los latinos han formado parte de la comunidad de Evanston desde al menos 1885, pero esta vibrante historia sólo ahora está empezando a recopilarse y documentarse. Este esfuerzo está dirigido por Evanston Latinos, una organización local sin fines de lucro, en conjunción con acontecimientos significativos como el reciente nombramiento y dedicación del Centro Comunitario Jorge y Luz María Prieto.
