It's All Fun and Games: Historic Toys of Evanston Exhibit
November 16, 2024 – January 5, 2025
Visit the Evanston History Center during the holiday season to discover and celebrate Evanston’s iconic contributions to the toy industry and explore our extensive collection of historic toys and games.
Highlights include many inventions designed by Evanston residents: Tinkertoys created by Charles Pajeau and Robert Petit and the many eclectic ideas of Marvin Glass, including the game of Operation and Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots.
Adding to the extravaganza are hundreds of classics from our historic toy collection. And Evanston’s toy story would not be complete without a spotlight on Rudolph, the beloved reindeer created by Evanstonian Robert L. May.
The History Center is a drop off site for the Mayor’s Annual Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive. Please considering bringing a new unwrapped toy, new/gently used book, or food staple item for our community.
*Note that a portion of the exhibit is on the second floor, accessible via one and a half flights of stairs.
