The Evanston History Center was founded in 1898 and occupied borrowed space until moving into the Dawes House in 1960. In 2009, the EHC took ownership of the house and has been working to restore and conserve the National Historic Landmark building ever since. Join Kris Hartzell, EHC Director of Facilities, for a behind-the-scenes look at the latest preservation projects that have been completed, and a look at future plans for restoration.

Kris Hartzell has been with EHC since 2007. She directs the preservation and maintenance of the Dawes house and serves as the collections registrar and oversees the artifact collection. She also leads architectural walking tours and trains and manages the volunteer docent team that conducts tours of the house.  Kris has an MS in Historic Preservation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She has served as Vice Chair of the City of Evanston’s Preservation Commission.

Registration is required.

To register as a non-member, click the number you’d like to buy under “Tickets” and then “Get Tickets” to pay the $10 admission. If you would like to become an EHC member, click here to buy a membership, and then you can RSVP for the event for free.

There are two ticket options below, Member Ticket and Non-Member Ticket. There are 65 total tickets.

Tickets are non-refundable.
