Just a few days before the longest night of the year, experience the historic Dawes House at its most magical- in evening candlelight and decked out for the holidays. Includes a one hour tour by historian Kris Hartzell that covers the architecture of the landmark museum home, details on the five historic period Christmas trees, and stories of how this home was enlivened during the holidays by the Dawes family.  Also includes refreshments, live piano music, admission to the “It’s All Fun and Games” holiday exhibit on classic toys, games and books created right here in Evanston.

DESCRIPTION:<p style="text-align: center;">Step into the home of Former U.S. Vice President, ambassador to Great Britain, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Charles Gates Dawes.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Charles Gates Dawes’ magnificent home, now a National Historic Landmark, was built by Dr. Robert Sheppard in 1894 on two acres overlooking Lake Michigan. It served as the Dawes family home from 1909 until 1957.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Faithfully restored and carefully conserved, this chateauesque residence, designed by architect Henry Edwards-Ficken, of New York, has twenty-five rooms, including a cherry paneled library, a vaulted dining room with a musicians’ gallery, six bedrooms, and twelve fireplaces.</p>

<p style="text-align: center;">Charles Gates Dawes’ magnificent home, now a National Historic Landmark, was built by Dr. Robert Sheppard in 1894 on two acres overlooking Lake Michigan. It served as the Dawes family home from 1909 until 1957.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Faithfully restored and carefully conserved, this chateauesque residence, designed by architect Henry Edwards-Ficken, of New York, has twenty-five rooms, including a cherry paneled library, a vaulted dining room with a musicians’ gallery, six bedrooms, and twelve fireplaces.</p>

Drop in any time between 4-6pm and we'll have classic games, live piano music, warming refreshments, a reading of <a href="https://evanstonroundtable.com/2024/11/21/its-all-fun-and-games-historic-toys-of-evanston-exhibit/">Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer</a> and winter crafts for kids.

<p style="text-align: center;">Charles Gates Dawes’ magnificent home, now a National Historic Landmark, was built by Dr. Robert Sheppard in 1894 on two acres overlooking Lake Michigan. It served as the Dawes family home from 1909 until 1957.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Faithfully restored and carefully conserved, this chateauesque residence, designed by architect Henry Edwards-Ficken, of New York, has twenty-five rooms, including a cherry paneled library, a vaulted dining room with a musicians’ gallery, six bedrooms, and twelve fireplaces.</p>

DESCRIPTION:<p style="text-align: center;">Step into the home of Former U.S. Vice President, ambassador to Great Britain, and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Charles Gates Dawes.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Charles Gates Dawes’ magnificent home, now a National Historic Landmark, was built by Dr. Robert Sheppard in 1894 on two acres overlooking Lake Michigan. It served as the Dawes family home from 1909 until 1957.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Faithfully restored and carefully conserved, this chateauesque residence, designed by architect Henry Edwards-Ficken, of New York, has twenty-five rooms, including a cherry paneled library, a vaulted dining room with a musicians’ gallery, six bedrooms, and twelve fireplaces.</p>
