Climate Action Evanston Executive Director Jack Jordan will build off his original research “Participating in Change: An Oral History of Community Climate Action Planning in Evanston, IL” to cover the history, current landscape, and future challenges of climate action. Join us for this Earth Week talk to explore how Evanston’s history of climate activism and connect local work in Evanston to the broader climate movement across the country and globe.
About the presenter:
Jack Jordan serves as the Executive Director and first-ever full-time employee of Climate Action Evanston. He received the Chick Evans Scholarship to attend Northwestern University and graduated with degrees in American Studies and Environmental Science. His senior honors thesis, “Participating in Change: An Oral History of Community Climate Action Planning in Evanston, IL”, covered two decades of climate activism in Evanston and attributed the community’s success to its active and engaged residents. Before working with Climate Action Evanston, Jack worked on utility-scale solar, wind and battery storage projects at the renewable energy developer Invenergy. When he isn’t working, you can find Jack giving architecture tours on the Chicago River as a volunteer docent with the Chicago Architecture Center.
