Duo F.A.E. Concert
Friday, March 21, 7pm
In-person event
At the Evanston History Center
225 Greenwood St, Evanston, IL
Join us in the Great Hall of the Dawes House for an intimate performance by Duo F.A.E. featuring GRAMMY-nominated violinist Charlene Kluegel and pianist Katherine Petersen- lauded at her Carnegie Hall debut for creating “real music-making– concentrated and deeply felt.” Duo F.A.E. will present “Dissidents of the Golden Age,” a program that honors the women who fought for women’s suffrage and rights around the world. The salon, such as the Dawes House’s salon, became an important and powerful gathering place for women for artistic expression and the exchange of ideas outside of the home. It is from these drawing rooms and salons that the suffragette movement was developed and organized. Presenting sonatas by suffragette composers Dame Ethel Smyth (UK) and Amy Beach (US), the evening will also pay musical homage to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in the world premiere of Evanston-based composer Stacy Garrop’s new arrangement of “My Dearest Ruth” – Martin Ginsburg’s final letter to his wife set to song.
Tickets are limited and you won’t want to miss this! Presented as part of the Evanston Women’s History Project.
