Author and historian, Leslie Goddard has been presenting history lectures and performing first-person programs in the Chicago area for more than ten years. A former museum director, she is author of two books on Chicago history, Remembering Marshall Field’s and Chicago’s Sweet Candy History. She also holds a Ph.D from Northwestern University, specializing in American studies and U.S. history. Her nationally recognized programs include presentations for the Illinois Humanities Council, Chicago’s Navy Pier, WBEZ- Chicago Amplified, Questers International, and scores of schools, universities, museums, libraries, clubs, and businesses. Presentation topics include, the Rise and Fall of State Street, Unraveling the History of Civil War Quilts, and Remembering Marshall Field’s. Her first person portrayals inlcude Civil War Diarist, Mary Chestnut; Titanic Stewardess, Violet Jessop; and First Lady Abigail Adams, among others.
