Join us in celebrating 42 years of Evanston history and architecture. The Evanston History Center presents the Annual Mother’s Day House Walk on Sunday, May 14, 2017, rain or shine. Houses will be open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.This year’s House Walk is generously supported by Platinum Sponsors Stone Heritage Properties and the Pritzker Military Museum & Library, Silver Sponsor Three Crowns Park, and Bronze Sponsor American Vintage Home.
The 42nd Annual House Walk marks the centennial of World War I. The homes included in this year’s House Walk reflect how the war affected the lives and homes of the people of Evanston. This House Walk will feature 5 historically and architecturally significant houses, 2 extraordinary coach houses, and the incomparable Levere Memorial Temple in southeast Evanston, the neighborhood surrounding the former home of the Dawes family and current headquarters of the Evanston History Center. Each house has a fascinating story to tell of architectural development, the neighborhood, World War I, and Evanston history. Visitors to the Dawes House will also be able to view Evanston History Center’s new exhibit, “The Finishing Touch: Evanston Accessorized!” which opens in May 2017.
