“Melody in A” was a 1911 musical composition written for piano and violin by Charles Gates Dawes, Vice President of the United States under Calvin Coolidge. The Dawes family moved to Evanston in 1895 and lived in our landmark building from 1909 to 1957.

“Melody in A” became a #1 hit song when lyrics were added and it was sung by Tommy Edwards under the name, “All in the Game.” The song is #38 on the Billboard All-time Top 100 Chart.
