The Evanston History Center, located in the Charles Gates Dawes House

The EHC staff gets very excited about the house walk. Not only is it our biggest and most important fundraiser, it is also our biggest and most important friend-raiser, and it is A LOT OF FUN, for the patrons but also for the staff.

Each year we strive to make the house walk even better! One of the ways we have augmented the house walk in recent years is to have a theme for the walk. This year’s theme is World War One and we have endeavored to use the houses to tell a story about World War One. It is amazing how many interesting and often sad stories we’ve uncovered. This special theme is in honor of the 100th anniversary of the U.S. entry into World War One and we hope you find it as special and as poignant as we do.

Putting on the house walk is a labor of love for us! The real reward is the enjoyment our house walk patrons get from it.

The 42nd Annual Mother’s Day House Walk is on Sunday, May 14, 2017, rain or shine. Houses will be open from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
