Umbrella and parasols featured in the newest exhibit at the EHC.

To further tempt interest in our upcoming accessories exhibit, “The Finishing Touch: Evanston Accessorized!” we offer a glimpse of the world of umbrellas and parasols used by Evanston inhabitants. They range from a carriage parasol of the 1880’s with carved ivory handle to a linen parasol with elaborate passementerie decoration to a rayon sun umbrella with celluloid handle ca. 1930 to a Bob the Builder umbrella for a child from 2007.

And, for your amusement, we offer a fashion show of British umbrellas and parasols from the 1950’s. Click here to view the video
